GYPSY
VAN
Hand built by Alan & Tanya Esam
We both decided to build a Gypsy Van because we do travel a
lot and Alan has picked up the name Gypsy and of course I am His Gypsy Queen...
I love to travel and have travelled a few places in Australia
from a very young age. We both had enough of our air bed going flat on us @ 2am
in the morning! and tents blowing down on us... all the little things that can
happen when on a camping trip that can make you uncomfortable at times.
So we looked into fold out campers and tents but were
frustrated that you still have to fold out and setup, and if it rains you still
have wet canvas to fold out and dry when you get home (so it doesn't decay).
Then we saw on the internet the Teardrop caravan and we started searching for
more information; designs and patterns, as well as who and where they were
getting built. We eventually came across Aussie Teardrop Campers.
Because we were unable to get plans in metric anywhere, we
drew up a 1200mm x 2400mm sheet with a couple of circles in it to make our plan.
A lot of help from Reiner and quite a few parts later, we have built our GYPSY
VAN NO : 1.
No: 2 and No: 3 are nearly finished and FOR SALE. We
have travelled to Sacksville, Hill End, Sofala and many other places... and
intend on travelling a lot more.
