Triking & Teardropping All Around the Place
"G'day Reiner and Sam,
We also only just got back from another teardrop holiday.
Had a ball and as usual the Teardrop performed exceptionally well. We have now
travelled over roads that one would have to think about putting a 4X4 over and
the teardrop hasn't faltered once. Several of the roads travelled have had
those ominous signs on them, you know the ones... "This road unsuitable for
wide loads, caravans, trailers etc, " ... These signs are usually a long
distance down a road and the alternative is many miles to avoid. The trike and
Teardrop has handled each of them very well, so well in fact that Mazz doesn't
slap me across the back of the helmet when we approach them anymore.
The trike and Teardrop have now completed in excess of
10,000 k's (in 5 months) of which 800 k's has been on very rough dirt road which
has seen the rear tyres on the trike damaged on the tread from scrubbing on the
handle bolts (I'll have to fix that one day when I stop tripping around) The
dust is stopped at the dust suppression rubbers and we have not received any
water in the teardrop from either storms endured on the 5 day Southern Cross
Poker Run or when I wash it with a 2.5 k psi pressure washer. The tear drop has
behaved itself well when it was being towed on a wet and greasy dirt track when
we took one of my famous short cuts when it was bucketing down out the back
blocks of Duringa. (what we were doing out the back of Duringa? seeing what was
around the next bend and over the next hill as one usually does with a Teardrop
camper.)
When we arrive at a destination wet and dirty the process
of setting up for the night is 2 minutes and pack up the following morning is
the same. This came in handy on the 5 day Southern Cross Poker Run when everyone
was up at 5am and packing wet tents and swags for a 8am start for the next leg,
we could afford to sleep in until 7am. Every time we stop in an outback town the
trike and Teardrop become instant Celeb's and draws a large crowd. (this is
great for our fundraising for Southern Cross Association and Spina Bifida by
breaking the ice and creating a conversation piece)
Would I ever go back to tenting it? you'd have to be joking
of course... you know what women are like when you travel.... one small area for
the man and trailer, topbox and any other small space for the lady. We love the
Teardrop and if and when this one expires we'll be on the list for another one.
Thanks for the great service when we come to visit you and
of course the friendship that has developed between us and other Teardroppers.
Take care and keep Teardropping when ever you can
Rick and Mazz (Teardrop No. 8)"
